Modern offshore medicine has accumulated a range of issues that need to be solved for effective offshore work
The issue
Every day thousands of marine vessels around the world go to sea. These are cargo, passenger, oil, fishing, research, and other vessels. Many of them go to sea for a long time: from several weeks to several months.
Offshore oil platforms, nuclear-powered icebreakers, giant container ships are constantly remote from infrastructure and high-tech medicine.

The challenge
To ensure the safety of people working offshore is an important challenge for companies, institutions, and governments. Health of the sailors should be the priority. Offshore medicine covers these issues.
The development of offshore medicine will allow to improve working conditions, reduce morbidity and disability rates.
The lack of standards, different regional practices, and the lack of communication between industry and market players are barriers to the development of offshore medicine.
